New York, So Far

Good morning, Earth.

Yesterday was fun.

We had a late breakfast at this really cool place called Baby Cakes Café in the town of Poughkeepsie. The Belgian waffle was awesome.

Afterward, we walked around the town. Hit up a pawnshop, checked out an art supply shop.

I like how this place has an old town kind of feel to it. Like everyone knows everyone, and their business.

We made our way up to Wallkill to check out the Branch facility there. It’s a beautiful area.

On our way to Wallkill we stopped at this place called the Harvest Inn which is owned by Witnesses. Many of the brothers and sisters stay there when they’re visiting the area.

They have a gift shop selling field service accessories and book covers.

We spent some time there with a few brothers and sisters who were visiting. When we first walked in, they were all sitting around the piano singing Kingdom Melodies.

We toured Wallkill afterwards. There was no work going on while we were there because it’s the weekend but it was still really cool to see everything.  Being there after-hours has an interesting feel to it. It felt more intimate. But then again, I haven’t experienced the normal tour to compare it to.

Either way, it was still awesome to see.

Once we finished the tour, we went over to the brother’s house who gave us the tour. He lives in one of the outside houses with seven other brothers. We ordered pizza and trekked around the creek in their backyard.

Marty, our tour guide.

It was a great time. The association was wonderful.

Hope you enjoyed the pictures!

From the letters,
joel
